God you out of your mother's stomach without knowing anything, and He gave you hearing, sight and hearts, that ye may be grateful. (Surat an-Nahl: 78)
The process is gradual vision. When the eyes see objects, a collection of light (photons) moving of objects towards the eye. This light through the lens of the eye which then refracts and dropped upside down on the retina - the back of the eye. The light falling on the retina is converted into electrical signals and transmitted by the nerves neurons to a tiny spot on the back of the brain called the center of vision. In the center of this vision, the electrical signal is received as an image after a series of processes. In fact this small speck of vision occurs, in the back of the brain completely dark and protected from light.
When you say "we see", in fact we only see the effects of impulses that reach our eyes and transmitted to our brains after converted into electrical signals. So, when we say "we see", we actually see only electrical signals in our brain.
The book you are reading and a view that stretches over the horizon is contained in a small space in the brain. Something similar happened with another perception that you captured with four other senses.
